5 Patriotic Recipes for Memorial Weekend

Anyone else feel like Memorial weekend just snuck up out of the (red, white &) blue? It’s the big weekend of grilling, planting the garden, and of course, remembering those men and women who gave their lives in the service of our country.

While I’m not sure what we’ll be planting in our garden this year, I have a few patriotic recipes up my sleeve that I think the whole family will love!

Let’s start off with a cute way to serve an appetizer: Pasta Salad on a Stick! Just prepare tortellini according to package instructions, then thread tortellini, tomatoes, mozzarella balls and olives on a skewer. Drizzle with the marinade and voila!

Make a layered flag dip! This recipe is as easy as it is delicious and layers up in 15 minutes. You’ll need:
1 (16 ounce) can refried beans
1 batch Fiesta Party Dip
1 batch Simple Guacamole
1 jar Corn, Black Bean Salsa
1 cup shredded Monterey jack cheese
1 cup halved cherry tomatoes
½ cup black beans, rinsed

In a 9×7-inch dish, layer the refried beans, Fiesta Party Dip, Simple Guacamole and Corn, Black Bean Salsa. Top with black beans in the upper left to make a square, then make stripes with the shredded cheese and halved tomatoes on the rest. Serve with chips and watch the dip disappear!

A favorite picnic dish of mine is the Dill Pickle Potato Salad. Baby red potatoes, Dill Pickle Dip Mix, hard-boiled eggs … what’s not to love?

With little kids, sliders are the way to go! Try Bacon BBQ Star Sliders, complete with a star-shaped piece of cheese on top.

Finally, I’ll be rounding off the weekend with Strawberry Cheesecake Bites. Creamy rich and oh so easy!
