How to Make Loaded Burger Bowls

Burger bowls. Bowl burgers.

Whatever you call these juicy little beauties, I promise – you won’t even miss the bun. Whether you’re cutting back on carbs or simply looking for fun weeknight dinner ideas for your family, stuffed burgers can be a quick and delicious way to bowl ‘em over.

Here’s how to make your own tonight, complete with a few different ways to load them up!

Step 1: Prep Your Filling
Preheat your oven to 350°F. Combine 1 packet Cheesy Potato Warm Dip Mix with 8 oz. softened cream cheese; set aside.

In a medium skillet, melt 1 tablespoon butter. Add 8 oz. baby bella sliced mushrooms, and sauté until softened, about 3-5 minutes. Remove from heat.

Step 2: Shape Your Bowls
Combine 2 pounds lean ground beef with 2 teaspoons Garlic Pepper Seasoning. Roll into six balls. Using a clean soda can or small bowl, press each ball around the bottom to form a burger “bowl” shape.

(I know it sounds weird, but stay with me here.) Carefully remove and place them on a foil-lined, rimmed baking sheet. Tip: pop the baking sheet into your freezer for a few minutes if the bowls start to lose their shape at all.

Step 3: Build & Bake ‘Em
Divide sautéed mushrooms, ½ cup shredded Cheddar cheese and 2-3 slices of crumbled bacon among the burger bowls.

Top each one with 1-2 tablespoons of your reserved cream cheese mixture; sprinkle with a little additional crumbled bacon and cheese.

Bake 30 minutes, covered loosely with foil. Serve topped with plain Greek yogurt and/or fresh chives for garnish. Ta-da!

Bonus Tips: Italian & Tex-Mex Burger Bowls
By the way, you can try this bowl technique with different types of burger fillings, too.
  • For Italian burger bowls, simmer 1½ tablespoons Mama Mia™ Marinara Sauce Mix with 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce and 8 oz. sautéed sliced mushrooms for your filling. Top your burger bowls with 1 cup shredded mozzarella before baking.

  • Or for a Tex-Mex version, combine 1 cup of prepared Fiesta Party Dip with 1 cup of shredded cheese. Scoop into burger bowls, and bake as directed above.
