Easy as 1-2-3: Cute Campfire Cupcakes
Here’s how to make yours, complete with step-by-step photos. You can also see the full recipe here »

Step 1: Bake & Frost Your Cupcakes
Let’s get baking! Preheat your oven to 350°F. Combine Classy Chocolate Pound Cake Mix with 1 cup water and ¾ cup melted butter as directed on the package. Pour the batter into 12 muffin tins with paper liners, and bake 25-30 minutes.

Cool and frost cupcakes with canned chocolate frosting. (I personally love the whipped variety!)

Step 2: Add “Firewood”
For your “logs,” grab about 12 chocolate-hazelnut rolled wafers (e.g., Pirouette® cookies). Break each one into 3-4 pieces, and arrange them on the top of each cupcake in a little tee-pee shape like this:

Step 3: Add “Flames”
Now the best part! Preheat your oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Unwrap about 12 hard red and yellow candies, and spread them out on the parchment, at least an inch apart. (I used cherry Jolly Rancher® candies and butterscotch discs.) Bake 7 minutes or until melted and bubbly.

Remove from the oven, and quickly swirl the colors together using a skewer or toothpick, flicking the outer edges.

Let it harden 5-10 minutes, and then break it into small pieces.

Arrange the candy shards on top of the cupcakes to resemble flames. And … ta-da!

Aren’t they adorable? For an extra touch, serve ‘em with mini marshmallows skewered onto toothpicks to resemble miniature roasting sticks. (You can even use a culinary torch to roast them if you’re feeling fancy.)

Happy National Chocolate Cupcake Day, my friends … here’s to getting a little campy!
