Last-Minute Halloween Treats

When it comes to Halloween, do you prefer cute or creepy traditions?

While I like a little suspense now and again, I’ve never really cared for horror films or novels, even though my dad owned every book ever written by Stephen King. (Apparently the fondness for bone-chilling fear has skipped a generation.)

Of course, someday I'll be in trouble if my little boys grow up into zombie-loving teenagers who watch The Walking Dead. But these days, we all prefer treats over tricks, pumpkins over poltergeists and munchies over monsters.

So if you're looking for some fun and kid-friendly Halloween ideas this year (even at the last minute!), you've come to the right place! Today we're featuring Mini Autumn Apple Pumpkins, which you can whip together with only four ingredients. So cute and creamy, these sweet little pumpkins are luscious bites of bliss. (And if you toss your cheese ball mixture in the fridge the night before, you can put 'em together in about five minutes flat!)

Oh, and while these pretty and petite pumpkins are perfect for Halloween parties, they'll make a festive addition to your Thanksgiving table, too.

Ready to make some spook-tacular sweets? (Psst – if you prefer chocolate treats, you'll find a bonus tip and recipe for Chocolate Peanut Butter Mice below as well!)

  3. Decorate
Place a small, fresh parsley leaf on top of each mini cheese ball. Press half of a buttery spindle pretzel into each one to create a “stem.” (If you'd like, use a toothpick to draw seams down the sides of the pumpkins, too.) Ta-da!
