Roses are red; violets are blue.
I prefer chocolate to flowers –
How about you?
As a single person, I don't particularly look forward to Valentine's Day. I won't be receiving flowers, romantic dinner or even a crummy card. But I'm not bitter.
Really.
That said, I am ALL IN for the whole chocolate fest that February has come to be. Usually I bide my time and score one of those big, heart-shaped boxes of candy that are marked down 70% on February 15.
This year, though, I won't have to delay my sweet gratification. In honor of National Chocolate Lovers Month, Tastefully Simple is offering $1 off the retail price of Dark Chocolate Cheesecake Bar Mix all month long – which is my cue to stock the cupboard. It's so easy to whip up a dark chocolate dream: just add cream cheese and butter to this simple mix and bake up some to-die-for bars. From the fudgy shortbread bottom crust to the rich, velvety filling, this is a dessert to make even a dour, old spinster like me fall passionately in love. You can even make it into an amazing cheesecake – or ratchet up the yum even higher with Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheesecake. To quote Homer Simpson, "Cheesecake …aaarrrrghhh."
When I made these last night, I used a heart-shaped cutter and sprinkled them with Valentine's Day candies. Hm. Maybe I'm really a hopeless romantic after all …
