I never had home economics classes growing up – my school just didn't offer them, so my mom made sure that I learned how to sew and cook at home. She is excellent at both and it's probably cliché, but whenever I make one of her famous recipes it never tastes as good as when she makes it. I'm lucky that she still makes me treats (like monster cookies) when we go to visit!
Now that my daughter is at an age where she wants to help and be involved, I thought I'd start having her help in the kitchen, too! I learned quickly that short, simple tasks are perfect for her right now because spot something shiny – squirrel! – and she's off to the next thing.
These Valentine Chocolate Heart Snickerdoodle cookies are perfect for little helpers. Dipping the dough into the sugar sprinkles, placing on the cookie sheet and unwrapping the chocolates sound like perfect tasks for my little Valentine to do!
Tips & Hints:
- Use more or less of the cinnamon packet to taste or combine the sugar sprinkles with the packet to roll the dough in!
