They come in great grab-and-go bags, perfect for summer days at the park or the pool. But if you’re looking for even more fun ways to pack ‘em up, try a couple of these kid-friendly ideas!
Idea #1: Here, Fishy Fishy
Smoky Ranch Sunflower Kernels are absolutely delicious sprinkled on summer salads and sliced cucumbers. But they make a wonderfully nutty addition to your favorite snack mixes, too.
This weekend at our house, we stirred up this simple recipe for Smoky Ranch Snack Mix, filled with crispy crackers, garlicky pretzels and savory sunflower seeds.
And for the kiddos, I packaged them into these little bags to look like goldfish. To make your own, simply fill a snack-size or quart-size bag about ¾ full of snack mix, and seal it. Twist the end, and secure with a clothespin to form a tail.
Cut fins and a mouth out of construction paper, glue in place, and add a googly eye to each one. Quite the cute little catch, right?
Idea #2: DIY Butterfly Bags
Wholesome White Cheddar Cheese Crisps come in a handy 5-pack, making them a perfect protein-packed snack whenever you need a little afternoon pick-me-up.
Looking for a fun afternoon activity with your kids, too? Simply toss these healthy snacks into DIY butterfly bags. Here’s what you’ll need for craft supplies:
- Snack-size or quart-size sandwich bags
- Little googly eyes
- School glue
- Pipe cleaners
Fill half of a bag with fresh berries, grapes or baby carrots. Fill the other half of the bag with White Cheddar Cheese Crisps, along with a handful of dry-roasted peanuts and white Cheddar popcorn.
Seal the bag, gently pressing out any extra air and keeping each side separate. Pinch the center of the bag, and secure with a clothespin. Spiral a pipe cleaner into an antenna shape, and clip with the end of the clothespin. Glue on a couple googly eyes, and ta-da! You’ll have a beautiful butterfly.
Feel free to use markers to add smiles or colorful designs to the clothespins, too.
