The Trend: Weird and Wonderful Veggies

By now we all know that we need to eat more veggies, but are you stuck in a veggie rut?  An endless loop of broccoli? Carrot overload?  Me, too!  Today we are going to branch out and try some fresh and new ingredients.

Even smaller grocery stores are starting to carry less common veggies like jicama,  shishito peppers, celeriac and so on. So next time you’re there, take a look around and choose something weird and wonderful!

Bok Choy is a type of Chinese cabbage.  If you’ve ever had Asian stir-fry, you’ve probably already tried it and didn’t even know it.  It comes in full-grown heads or you can get the trendy new baby bok choy.

In fact, you can find grilled baby bok choy on our new catalog cover … drizzled with Thai Peanut Sauce. It is totes amazing.

Or try this super fast stir-fry side dish: Quick Bok Choy & Peppers

It’s ready in 5 minutes and so delicious – even my DH enjoyed it, and he is not a huge fan of veggies adventures.

Or how about kohlrabi?

This little darling is a mild-mannered member of the cabbage family, and it’s jam-packed with vitamins and minerals.  It has more vitamin C than an orange and half the calories of a potato.

These Kohlrabi Fries are quick, delicious, and so yummy.  They are not crisp like a French fry, but they are addictive.

Most veggies are delicious when they are simply tossed with one of our healthy oils and expertly seasoned with any one of our seasoning blends – then you can saute, bake or grill them for fantastic, healthy sides.

So this week … get wild!  Try a weird new veggie and discover for yourself how wonderfully fun it can be to expand your horizons.
