Special Equipment: Christmas cookie cutters
- Preheat oven to 350°F. In a large bowl, combine Maple Iced Gingerbread Mix packet 1, butter and egg. Knead dough until it comes together in a ball; add 1-2 tablespoons water if necessary.
- Lightly flour work surface. Roll out half the dough to ¼-inch thick. Using cookie cutters, cut out dough and place on an ungreased baking sheet. Allow plenty of space between cookies, since they will puff and expand slightly.
- Bake 7-9 minutes or until edges start to darken. Remove from oven. Cool on baking sheet 1 minute. Transfer to cooling rack. Cool completely. Repeat with remaining dough.
- Decorate gingerbread cookies with icing and/or sprinkles, if desired.
Makes about 22 cookies.
Note: Reserve Maple Iced Gingerbread Mix packet 2 for future use, such as an icing for pancakes or muffins.
