Sara's Cinnamon Bread Recipe

This amazing bread made the whole house smell phenomenal, and it tasted best when it was still warm.

  • 12 oz. lemon lime soda or ginger ale
  • 1 Tbsp. cinnamon
  • 2 Tbsp. melted butter
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. cinnamon
  • 2 Tbsp. water or orange juice

Preheat oven to 375°. Quickly and firmly stir the first 3 ingredients together in a mixing bowl for 20-30 seconds. Do not over mix; the batter will be lumpy. Spread batter into a greased 9 x 5 inch loaf pan. Pour melted butter over the top of the batter. Bake 50-55 minutes until loaf is golden brown and pulls away from the sides of the pan. For the glaze, blend powdered sugar and cinnamon in a bowl. Add water or orange juice 1 tablespoon at a time until desired consistency is reached. While the bread is still warm and in the pan, score the top of the bread crosswise and lengthwise several times with a sharp knife, cutting about 1 inch deep. Remove the loaf from the pan and place it on a large serving plate. Pour the glaze over the top while the bread is still warm; let stand about 15 minutes before slicing and serving. Makes about 14 servings.
